Mother's
Day or Mother's Day is a holiday celebrated in honor mothers around the world,
at different times of the year depending on the country
His contemporary
origin would be referred to Mother's Friendship Day and Mother's Day meetings
Meetings organized in 1865 or 1868 by Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis, where mothers
gathered to exchange views on various topical issues
For its
part the Catholic Church changed the date of Mother's Day in a celebration to
honor the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus.
The
celebration of Mother's Day "second Sunday in May" throughout the
planet was decreed by President Woodrow Wilson United States in 1914.
The date of
Mother's Day 2016 in Ecuador this Sunday May 8 where Ecuadorians will pay
homage to the woman who helps us every day without expecting anything in return
is celebrated.

In the
Dominican Republic a large family gathering, in which the "Hymn to the
Mother" is sung. The hymn was written in the 20's Maria degli Angeli
Trinidad de Moya Pérez, better known as Trina Vasquez Moya, wife of Horacio
Vásquez, three times president of the Republic. The hymn is taught in schools
and is as common as the "Happy Birthday".
In other
countries, such as Spain, big celebrations are not made, but simply the
children and parents congratulate mothers and give them a little present.
